ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS (RNYGB) is routinely performed laparoscopically using smaller incisions so there is less pain, faster recovery and fewer complications.  The surgeon sections off  a portion of the stomach and reroutes part of the small intestine to the smallest section of your stomach.  Patients usually return home after two days in the hospital.

LAP BAND is another surgical option provided by our surgeons. This operation is a purely restrictive procedure that involves placing a thick band around the upper portion of the stomach. This reduces the size of the stomach so the sensation of being full is achieved with much less food. Typically, patients stay in the hospital one day after this procedure.

These procedures carry risks and possible side effects, but the amount of weight loss can be significant and dramatic. Some insurance companies may cover the cost of weight loss surgery if you meet the requirements.
